The International Railway Summit 2026 is one of the leading international events dedicated to the future of rail transport and sustainable mobility. Now in its fourteenth edition, the event brings together railway operators, institutions, governments, technology providers, and industry experts in London to discuss the theme “The Power of Being Connected”, highlighting the strategic value of connectivity as a driver of competitiveness and innovation.

Through plenary sessions, B2B meetings, technical visits, and networking opportunities, the summit addresses the key challenges facing the global railway sector, including service integration, interoperability, military mobility, high-speed rail, economic sustainability, digitalization, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and the development of major infrastructure projects. The event also aims to foster collaboration among industry stakeholders by promoting new partnerships and cooperation models capable of accelerating the transformation of rail transport and strengthening its strategic role in economic and regional development.

Conference Objective

Military Mobility and Research Area

Among the key topics addressed during the 14th International Railway Summit, particular attention was devoted to Military Mobility, which is now considered one of the most significant strategic challenges for the future of European railway infrastructure. The discussions highlighted how railways are increasingly assuming a role that extends beyond their traditional transport function, emerging as critical infrastructure for resilience, security, and Europe’s capacity to respond effectively in times of crisis. Through exchanges between representatives of the European Commission, railway operators, industry stakeholders, and Ukrainian Railways, the need to strengthen interoperability, logistics corridor resilience, mobilization capacity, and the governance of dual-use infrastructure clearly emerged. These topics are particularly relevant to the research activities carried out within the framework of ERCI – European Railway Clusters Initiative ASBL and the LEADER 2030 project (GA 101121856), both focused on enhancing the resilience of European rail freight corridors and strengthening Europe’s industrial capacity. In this context, increasing importance is being given to the integration of critical freight into capacity allocation mechanisms, the development of reserve and emergency train paths, the reinforcement of corridor-level governance, and the implementation of advanced performance monitoring and predictive disruption management systems. The discussions held during the summit confirmed the growing convergence between rail logistics, supply chain resilience, and Military Mobility priorities within the framework of future European transport and security policies.
Training Objective

The conference explored the strategic role of railways in European Military Mobility, focusing on corridor resilience, dual-use infrastructure, interoperability, governance, and crisis management. The topics discussed contributed to the development of advanced models for performance monitoring, operational continuity, and logistics mobilization in critical and emergency contexts.
