New Generation Sensors:
IoT, AI, and cloud platforms for connected logistics
New Generation Sensors is an innovative Italian SME specialising in IoT-based solutions and has developed projects for

New Generation Sensors Srl (NGS) is an innovative Italian SME, a spin-off of the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies, specialising in process digitalisation and the development of IoT platforms, artificial intelligence solutions, and cloud computing.
We design systems that optimise operations, increase efficiency, and enhance competitiveness, with a modular, scalable approach based on open standards.
What We Do
New Generation Sensors Srl develops IoT and blockchain solutions for industrial monitoring and smart logistics. TrackOne is a collaborative multi-tenant platform that enables cooperation among logistics operators, tracking every element of the supply chain (e.g., pallet, container, means of transport) along the multimodal chain and ensuring end-to-end visibility. Based on GS1 EPCIS 2.0 and blockchain-certified, it adopts the principles of the Physical Internet. In particular, we focus on:- Digital transformation and integration: flow automation, integration between heterogeneous systems, real-time data for faster decision-making.
- IoT and AI platforms: remote asset monitoring, predictive analytics, smart maintenance, resource optimisation.
- Cloud and security: scalability, accessibility, traceability, and end-to-end data governance.
- ESG services and operational marketing: strategy, reporting, training, and campaigns to align innovation and sustainability.
New Generation Sensors Srl and the Physical Internet
NGS contributes to the vision of the Physical Internet, enabling interoperable, transparent, and sustainable logistics. Our platforms implement GS1 standards (EPCIS 2.0, EDI) and technologies such as blockchain and IPFS to ensure data integrity, selective sharing, and notarisation throughout the supply chain. This translates into fewer errors and lower costs, regulatory compliance, and measurable environmental impact.Project Examples
- TREATMENT Project – Interoperability in pharmaceutical logistics The TrackOne platform for a fully digital pharmaceutical supply chain: real-time shipment tracking through IoT smart boxes/smart capsules, monitoring of environmental conditions, and cold chain management. Integration testing with drone-based transport (ABzero) and data sharing according to GS1 EPCIS/EDI standards for intermodal and multi-stakeholder scenarios.
- TrackOne Platform – Weight and dimension measurement IoT solution to acquire, analyse, and certify the weight and dimensions of logistics units. Automatic comparison between declared and measured values, logistics status updates via GS1 codes, blockchain notarisation, and IPFS storage. Benefits: prevention of billing discrepancies, optimisation of load space, compliance with SOLAS/ADR/IATA, fewer manual errors, and faster warehouse processes.
- Sustainable and data-driven logistics Integration of IoT sensors and cloud platforms to optimise routes, reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, improve reverse logistics and packaging. Alignment with ESG and circular economy goals, with KPIs monitored via dashboard.
What Makes Us Unique
- Interoperability by design: global standards (GS1) for secure collaboration between actors and systems.
- Data reliability: event-driven traceability, notarisation, and selective sharing.
- Efficiency and compliance: fewer errors, controlled costs, and adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Sustainability: operational optimisation and waste reduction, in line with Physical Internet targets.
