Throughout the event, participants explored several strategic topics, including the role of logistics as a driver of industrial competitiveness, supply chain resilience, infrastructure investment, process digitalization, artificial intelligence, intermodality, and the need to strengthen Italy’s position within European and Mediterranean logistics corridors.

Significance and Impact
Logistics Day 2026 highlighted how logistics has become a fundamental pillar of economic competitiveness and the resilience of modern production systems. In a context shaped by international conflicts, shifting geopolitical balances, disruptions to global trade routes, and increasing regulatory complexity, the ability to design efficient, interoperable, and resilient logistics networks has become a decisive factor for national growth and long-term competitiveness.
Particular attention was devoted to the development of strategic infrastructure, the integration of rail, maritime, and road transport, the role of ports and the TEN-T corridors, public and private investment, as well as the opportunities created by artificial intelligence, digitalization, and next-generation technological platforms to enhance efficiency, end-to-end visibility, and decision-making capabilities across the entire supply chain.

Key topics included supply chain resilience, the impact of geopolitical crises on global trade routes, the strategic role of the Mediterranean in emerging trade dynamics, logistics digitalization, infrastructure investment, port governance, rail-road-maritime intermodality, the evolution of customs regulations, and the application of artificial intelligence to logistics processes.
Special attention was also given to the future development of Italian exports, the need to strengthen public-private cooperation, and the creation of a more integrated national logistics system capable of enhancing the competitiveness of Italian businesses in international markets.
Reason for Participation
My participation in Logistics Day 2026 aligns with my PhD research in Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, which focuses on the implementation of the Physical Internet in real-world logistics and the development of AI-enabled decision architectures for interoperable, resilient supply chains designed to enhance the performance of logistics corridors.
The event provided an outstanding opportunity to engage with institutional representatives, logistics operators, industry associations, businesses, academics, and leading experts on the major trends shaping the sector. It enabled an in-depth exploration of topics directly related to my research activities, including logistics corridor resilience, critical infrastructure governance, digitalization, interoperability, performance monitoring, artificial intelligence applied to logistics, and the transformation of European logistics networks.
Participation also contributed to strengthening a systemic understanding of the challenges affecting modern logistics by connecting the impacts of geopolitical dynamics with investment strategies, infrastructure development, intermodality, and emerging supply chain governance models. The insights gained represent a valuable contribution to the ongoing evolution of my research toward increasingly intelligent, interoperable, and resilient logistics systems, fully aligned with the principles of the Physical Internet paradigm.
Participation in Logistics Day 2026 provided the opportunity to deepen my understanding of logistics as a strategic infrastructure for industrial competitiveness and economic security, highlighting how resilience, interoperability, digitalization, and artificial intelligence have become essential pillars for designing the supply chains of the future.
The event also strengthened my understanding of the forces reshaping European logistics, with particular emphasis on infrastructure integration, the governance of multimodal corridors, investment in transport networks, the impact of geopolitics on value chains, and the transition toward increasingly intelligent, sustainable, and data-driven logistics models.
